Visual Blog Post Summary

Visual Assignments:

This was a difficult but incredibly enriching assignment. I had trouble creating interesting visuals or taking complex photos because I have never done such things before. However, it forced me to learn. I became familiar with the importance of keeping readers interested through visual graphics such as photography, maps, and videos. Without them, it is understandably difficult to get through a bare story on a bright, white screen. With no color, with no design, the story becomes black words on a mundane website. But, my website, through visual elements, becomes a story within itself, customized by photos and what is: my flare. I really enjoyed learning how to take better photos through the tips presented, and “photoblitzing” was an activity that weirdly impassioned me with the art of quick photography. The story map got me even more excited for the trip to Easter Island, and I learned more about graphic design through the other visual assignments. It took me a long time to compile a collage of visuals produced by me, but I am proud to say that I did it, and that my graphics are beautiful.
